Dive into books - some popular reads this year

Shelfari: Book reviews on your book blog

Thank You

A huge Thank You to Ross and the Team at the Library for another fabulous summer of reading. The encouragement and enthusisam that the kids have for the programme amazes me and they read and read and read. Next holidays I hope to see a "summer housework programme" - that would be great.

A real shame about the weather for the final BBQ, however you did a great job of sausages and drinks for all at the inside BBQ! Thank You VERY much......Max, AJ and Mitchell Sheard.

Tintin-Prisoners of the sun.

This book is an exciting book, where Tintin and Captain Haddock intend to save their friend, Professer Calculus. On there way they get captured by some vicious indians who intend to kill them.

Will Tintin make it out this time?

A Double Cheese Twist

I have discovered a world of many things over the last week from the realms of the stories you have shared. Most notably I have a visited an entire house made of cheese! Actually, I was invited in twice! A tasty offer that I could not refuse from two passionate Geronimo readers who shared the same story with me. Imagine that...an entire house made of cheese! Would you really want rats living in that house though? Wouldn't you have concerns about sustainability or stability? ..hmmmmmm... 'nibble, nibble, nibble'. RATZ! It seemed such a cool idea at the time too. What about a whole house made out of chocolate instead? Oh...duh...summer's here...anyone want to share in my 'melting moment'?

The carnival fanfare around Jacqueline Wilson is still alive! I had the great pleasure to meet a recently new reader of JW who has just compiled a written list of all her books and is going to attempt to read them all! You Go Girl! Look forward to the report-in's. If you have enjoyed consuming 'Candyfloss' and the like you will be attracted to JW"s latest fairground literary ride - 'Hetty Feather'. Rock on SR Readers'!

Hi guys, we had a very busy day yesterday, 55 report-ins in 2 hours so we are well into it. Just remember that if you are unsure about any Summer Reading details, just let us know and we will be happy to help you out.

So far, it seems that more and more girls are reading action and adventure stories, as opposed to the normal fairy book influx, and that the "Beast Quest" series by Adam Blade is very very popular with a lot of readers. I can safely say that "Star Wars" is still supreme for many of the boys.

Some new series that you might want to check out are "Battle Boy" by Charlie Carter, "Gladiator Boy" by David Grimstone and the "Glitterwings Academy" by Titiana Woods.

And finally, the new Geronimo Stilton novel has arrived - "The Kingdom of Fantasy". Reserve it now!

Catch you around, Ross

Our first check in

We had our first check in at the Library with Rhonda yesterday and all the kids are fired up to read. Thank you Rhonda for such a positive start to the program. The kids were buzzing afterwards and they all have their bags full of books to devour at home. They have all found their favourite book areas and are loving the new material!

See you all soon.

Have a fun time!

Welcome to the 2009 Summer Reading Programme everyone!!! :)

Yes, it's that time of year again when all hands on deck...it's with great pleasure to help out in this years SRP. I have enjoyed the previous years and this year I am again having a wonderful time listening about your favourite books that you have read. Thanks for sharing these books with us. It's fantastic to see a colourful mix of young children with varied interests in a wide range of genres. You young people make our day when you come to visit and get to spend some time with us to share some of those exciting, interesting books that you've been reading.

It's great to see new young people too! Have fun!
